Fencing Is For Everyone

Fencing is an activity for people of all ages, stages, and abilities. This fun and social sport develops physical and mental fitness, providing a challenging workout that can be tailored to any level.

SFC is an inclusive space that welcomes people of every age, race, gender, and background to come together and excel in sport, build lasting friendships, and strive for athletic and personal excellence.

SFC Philosophy

Sport is an essential part of education, and at the heart of every thriving society, promoting friendship, peace, cooperation, and understanding among people from all walks of life.

The pursuit of excellence in sport builds personal character as well as interpersonal bonds. SFC’s vision is to amplify fencing in the community and beyond by providing an inclusive environment where all fencers are welcome to strive for their best and enjoy the camaraderie of a community of fellow fencers.

Featured Programs

At SFC we offer several fencing programs that include a combination of private lessons, group classes, strip lessons, camps, open bouting and tournaments for different levels of skills and ages.

Youth & Beginner

Youth and beginner programs are designed to introduce you to the sport of fencing with basic fundamentals covering footwork, handwork, distance control as well as simple tactics and techniques.

Intermediate

Fencers in the intermediate level must have general understanding of saber fencing and have mastered basic skill of blade work and footwork in the youth/beginner classes.

Elite

Our Elite Training Program is for competitive fencers who want to bring their fencing to the highest possible level and are required to compete on national and international level.

Scarsdale Fencing Center is a top notch fencing academy dedicated to saber. Location is accessible from NYC by train and there’s parking aswll if you’re driving. Coach Achiko and Coach Maksim truly care about their students and development. My daughter has been with Coach Achiko for a few years now and we travel between NYC and Scarsdale just to see him! He cares deeply about his students and is extremely communicative with parents. He goes out of his way to make busy schedules work so that students get his time. We have full trust in the teaching and coaching at Scarsdale Fencing Center and LOVE the coaches!

Scarsdale Fencing Club is new and elegant, but this club is special because of the people; the coaches and the community. With compassion, coaches Achiko and Maxim guide fencers to be at their highest level. The coaches emphasize discipline and diligence, and inspire fencers to love the sport. The community - both fencers and parents - is wonderful. Our boys have formed a strong bond with other fencers, who are incredibly supportive and caring. The parents are very helpful, and our family is absolutely thrilled to be part of this club.

Scarsdale Fencing Center is a wonderful place for both beginners as well as advanced fencers to learn and further develop their love for fencing in a nurturing and welcoming community. The club itself is new, well-equipped, and state-of-the-art, everything a parent would hope from a modern fencing center. Our daughter’s experience at SFC has been great – the coaches are incredibly friendly and talented and seem to truly care about teaching each student based on their individual level of development. Moreover, they inspire and offer encouraging words when needed. Their supportive, enthusiastic, methodical, and constructive approach to their students’ progress and improvement is admirable. My daughter started earlier this year, and she is having a lot of fun! Her coach Achiko is one of the best Saber coaches, and the other SFC coaches are also outstanding. All the coaches are experienced and great with kids who may be shy or anxious about starting a new sport.

My two boys have been coached by Achiko Lortkipanidze for 6 years and they have grown from beginner fencers to top ranked in the country and being recruited for Div 1 colleges.
