At SFC we offer several fencing programs that include a combination of private lessons, group classes, strip lessons, camps, open bouting and tournaments for different levels of skills and ages.

Youth & Beginner

Youth and beginner programs are designed to introduce you to the sport of fencing with basic fundamentals covering footwork, handwork, distance control as well as simple tactics and techniques.

Intermediate

Fencers in the intermediate level must have general understanding of saber fencing and have mastered basic skill of blade work and footwork in the youth/beginner classes.

Our Elite Training Program is for competitive fencers who want to bring their fencing to the highest possible level and are required to compete on national and international level.

Will Morrill brought home silver in the Junior Men’s Sabre.
Then he and Emilio Gonzalez stood on the top of the podium
as World Team Champions for Team USA.

Yuju Jeon and Emilio Gonzalez finished 5th in their individual
events — inches from a world medal, carrying SFC with them
every step of the way.

Pompie Yannopoulos and Inkosi Brou fought for every touch
alongside them.

To compete at a World Championship is rare. To do it with

Exceptional youth program, specializing in saber fencing. Coaches Achiko and Maksim have years of teaching and fencing experience. They have produced world-class level fencers while making this complex and mentally challenging sport both fun and interesting for kids. The studio is very nice and clean.

I knew Coach Achiko and the great things that he and his staff have accomplished in such a short period of time prior to My Daughter joining in January 2023. When we decided to make the switch to SFC in the middle of the current season after attending their Winter Training Camp, they welcomed us and made my daughter’s transition completely easy. This was the best decision that we made for our daughter in her young fencing journey.

Scarsdale fencing center is a bright modern fencing club with top notch instructors. My two boys have been coached by Achiko Lortkipanidze for 6 years and they have grown from beginner fencers to top ranked in the country and being recruited for Div 1 colleges. This review is long overdue.....my daughter has trained with Coach Achiko for 9 years and Coach Maksim since SFC began. You will not find finer coaches (or people) anywhere in the world. They are also very selective in any new coaches they bring in (as they have very high standards), and all have been amazing as well. The vibe and atmosphere at the club is highly sought after and extremely rare, as nearly every time I drive the girls carpool home from practice, they all rave and gush about how fun it is and how it's one of the best parts of their weeks. The girls genuinely love going to their weekly practices at SFC. The community -- families and kids -- are all kind, helpful, and welcoming. The kids help the other kids. The parents help the other parents. Everyone "pays it forward". SFC combines world class coaching, personalized attention, team-oriented family feel, great facilities, stability, and a nurturing growth/competitive environment for kids to learn and progress. I'd recommend SFC 100% without a doubt to anyone looking to try out fencing. Bravo!

Scarsdale Fencing Center may be new but Coaches Maxim and Achiko (friends and teammates since their early teens) have a wealth of experience training their students with many becoming highly accomplished fencers earning national and international recognition. My daughter has been Achiko’s student for over 6 years starting from the age of 8. What I noticed from the very beginning was Achiko’s fine attention to technique, always adjusting his students’ form and footwork. This lays crucial groundwork for success at older ages where strategy is key and where experienced opponents easily take advantage of sloppy form and footwork. Achiko and Maxim at Scarsdale Fencing Center don’t just teach fencing moves but have a cohesive methodology encompassing technique, footwork and strategies. Achiko is a dedicated coach providing emotional and mental support, always checking in with my daughter after her bad and good days. I highly recommend Scarsdale Fencing Center and Coaches Maxim and Achiko!
